Avery may be an undersized key defender, but he has an incredible knack for intercepting marks and winning plenty of the ball. A beautiful, penetrating left-footer, he often draws the toughest matchup against the opposition’s number one key forward week in and week out. What sets him apart is his ability to not only shut down these key forwards but also find plenty of the ball himself. His exceptional reading of the play allows him to compete with taller, bigger bodies without ever getting caught out of position.
