Midfielder/Wing

172cm / 17 years of age

Amy Smith is rapidly emerging as one of the most dynamic prospects in the 2025 Coates Talent League Girls competition. A genuine game-changer through the midfield, Smith combines explosive athleticism with elite footballing IQ and skill execution, making her one of the most complete midfielders in this year’s draft pool.

In 2025, Smith has taken her game to another level. Operating primarily through the midfield and wing, she consistently breaks lines with her blistering speed—clocking a top-end sprint of 8.2m/s—and showcases exceptional cleanliness both at ground level and in the air. Her ability to maintain composure under pressure and make high-impact decisions by hand or foot separates her from the pack.

Smith’s versatility is a standout asset. She’s as comfortable crashing in at stoppages as she is finding space on the outside, where her work rate and spread from contest create a constant threat. Importantly, she knows how to hit the scoreboard, adding an attacking edge to her game. She booted two goals in a standout performance against the Western Jets and added another classy finish against the Murray Bushrangers.

Despite facing injury setbacks in 2024, Smith has shown elite resilience and drive, returning in 2025 with confidence and hunger.

Smith is pushing hard for selection in the upcoming Victorian Under-18 Girls Championships. With her mix of speed, skill, and game sense, she looms as a promising draft prospect for the 2025 AFLW Draft.
